Making room for the new

The last few days of 2013 for me have been long days and late nights spent cleaning, purging, and organizing. Am I the only person who has to go through stacks and piles of  STUFF?

I had never thought about how similar the start of a new year is with preparing to give birth to a baby. I felt that same surge of energy, the motivation to get things in order the past few days.

I can remember the days and weeks leading up to the arrival of each of my 5 children. Despite the discomfort I was experiencing physically, I could not rest. I had this compulsion to prepare.

I felt that same compulsion the past few days.

The need to prepare my heart as well as my house for all that this next year holds.

When you're "expecting" it keeps you up at night.

You're uncomfortable with the present and at the same time filled with hope and anticipation for the future.

So as much as I don't enjoy it, I've spent hours going through the piles.

Getting rid of those things that aren't needed and things that don't fit me anymore and I'm not just talking about clothes. :)

I'm preparing and making room for the new.
