Saying YES… today
As a church leader for many years I would have to say one of the most asked questions I hear is “What is God’s will or purpose for my life?"
The more life I’ve lived brings realization that more often than not God doesn’t give someone the complete game plan. It’s lived out in the day to day of saying "yes."
Let me explain…
We can look at the life of Abraham in Genesis 12:1. God told him to leave his homeland and to go…
Go where you might ask…? to a land I(God) will show you.
This has usually been the way God has interacted in my life.
An initial instruction...
No clear details after that...
Then I have to choose to say yes and move forward. I have to admit there have been many times I have not said yes due to lack of details.
I think of Mary, the mother of Jesus. When the angel appeared to her and told her she was being chosen to carry the Messiah. She said Yes… ”Be it unto me, according to your word” (Luke 1:38). I wonder if she would have said yes if every detail of what that meant for her had been shared in that moment.
I am putting my hand to something in my life at the moment that is huge for me. But at the same time is such a natural next step. So natural that as a matter of fact as I plan the next steps I’m surprising myself with the calm and confidence I have.
I actually stopped and mentally traced back the "Yes’s" that have led me to this point. It’s amazing to see the clear path that has led me to this time. (Patience my dear friends… you will be hearing details in the next weeks and months.)
The point of today's blog is to encourage to say "yes" today to that still small voice of instruction.
It might feel like a HUGE yes or maybe a very insignificant yes… that’s irrelevant… it’s a YES!!
I can’t wait to see where your "yes" takes YOU!
Wholeheartedly!
Susan
