being still to know...
I think it can be easy to assume that people who journal, pray, meditate…whatever “being still” looks like to you, find it easy and always love to do these things.
I’m just speaking for myself here, but I typically have to choose to do these things and not wait till I feel like it. Because what I’ve noticed is the times I don’t feel like it are the times I need these practices the most.
As I woke up this morning and made my coffee I “felt” like scrolling through YouTube and Instagram. But I made myself read a scripture and pick up a pen. Before the pen hit the paper I could literally feel a bazillion thoughts about to-do lists and overwhelming needs in our world swirling around in my mind.
When the pen actually hit the paper here’s what came out…
“looking to you Father, the author and the finisher of my faith.”
And yes, I stopped and took a picture. Because that’s what I do all day, everyday haha!
Right off, that first sentence aligned my heart and mind. I felt all the things swirling slow down as Holy Spirit reminded me it’s not my job to have all the answers.
So just in case, you need reminding today…We can trust him to finish what he started.
