When I'm 80...

I wanted to share the following post "When I'm 80..." with you.  It is written by Lori Wilhite, Founder of Leading and Loving It.  You can find her website info listed under "My Favorite Places." Lori's blog reminded me of my own father... We celebrated his 80th birthday this past April. He has always been a pastor!   I've realized it's not about the title someone can give him, it's who he is. I spent my younger years watching him spend endless hours ministering to people in their time of need, as well as celebrating their victories along side of them! What are you believing?

I think all of us have a vision of what we would like our "perfect" life to look like. We all desire to live a life of significance and make a difference in our world. For those that are married and have children we desire to have a vibrant and thriving relationship with our spouse and raise children that love God and desire to use their life to glorify Him. But do you realize there is a difference in desiring something and believing for something? To desire something means "to wish or long for." To believe for something means "to accept as true." So in other words, I can desire something all day long and not move any closer to it...

Are you being used?

Nobody likes to be taken advantage of...yet sometimes we willingly allow ourselves to be used. Let me explain... The enemy of our soul is so cunning and crafty that it's not always obvious in the beginning how he is scheming in our life.  We find ourselves in certain situations and immediately start reacting.  (Believe me; I'm speaking from experience on this one!) Most of the time if we will stop reacting and take a look at the situation with our spiritual eyes, not the eyes of our flesh that are SCREAMING at us, then we will see that things are not as they appear.  There is usually a lot more going on behind the scenes.
