how did I get here...

Please tell me I'm not the only Facebook user that has casually been scrolling through their news feed, clicked on a friends picture or status they posted and several minutes later you are mentally retracing your clicks and wondering  how you got to the person's page you are now on. It happened again for me... I ended up scrolling down the page of someone I haven't seen since I graduated from high school and went away to college.   The beautiful woman's hair is all gray now, yet her eyes and face still beam with the youthful radiance I had seen as a teenager.   I smiled as I scrolled down her page and saw pictures of her husband and...

Summer of 7 Recap

What a wonderful, wild  journey we've been on together these past 7 weeks! It's been  fun hearing from so many of you that have jumped in and participated in some way during 7. I've been amazed as I've run into some of you around town and also hearing from friends I've known through the years and you mentioning you've been following along this whole time.  I had no idea! That has made the journey even sweeter for me! And of course, a big shout out to my Amplify peeps and Thrive Sisters that have been on this 7 week adventure right along side me! I know this summary in no way tells the complete story of Summer of Seven.  But...

Summer of 7

Calling all Amplifiers and friends to join me on this “Summer of 7″ experiment as we simplify and de-crapify our lives. I read Jen Hatmakers book,  “7″  earlier this year and it messed me up… in a good way.   So instead of being messed up all by myself I would love for you to join me. Jen’s book is a 7 month experiment where she  focuses on 7 areas of excess.   The Summer of 7  is a seven week “summer intensive” of the experiment.  We will take a week to focus on each area. Week 1-  Food Week 2-  Clothes Week 3-  Possessions Week 4-  Media Week 5-  Waste Week 6-  Spending Week 7-  Stress I’m looking at it as...

A New Perspective- Part 2

I wrote "A New Perspective" during my girls hospital stay after their car accident.  You may want to go here first to read it. This blog is a follow-up to that... In the last week I have found myself several times going across that same bridge. A friend and I drove acoss that bridge again early this morning when we picked up a mom that is choosing to enter treatment instead of going back to the streets.  Her precious little girl is staying in our home until she is ready for the baby to join her. I share this follow-up post to remind you... God still speaks to His people today. Somehow we get caught up in the method He chooses to speak, but the bottom line is, He speaks. And...

Love and Perspective

During our Servolution Series last year we were challenged with looking for ways God is wanting us to serve others.  I think most churches and Christians would say they want to share the love of Christ with others, but sadly a lot of times it doesn't go any further than the stated desire.  My husband Ron and I began asking God to show us practical ways to serve our community and praying for him to send  laborers to Amplify Church with this same heart. He is doing that and it is exciting and scary all rolled up together! During this series my friend Pam told me that she felt like God was putting it in her heart to do something with the prison. She...
