#WednesdayWord

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;     don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;     he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all.     Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health,     your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own;     give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst,     your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline;     don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects;     a father’s delight is behind all this. Proverbs 3:5-12 (The Message)

Chuck Norris, Psalm 31 woman, Jack Bauer and Moms

Yesterday was Mother's Day and besides having a blast hanging out all day with my 5  fabulous kiddos, I loved, loved, LOVED seeing all the pics on social media of all my mom friends and their children. So many wonderful tributes written to celebrate Motherhood, but I have to admit this Facebook post written by my oldest sister about our mom is my 'fav' for the day! Making room for the new

The last few days of 2013 for me have been long days and late nights spent cleaning, purging, and organizing. Am I the only person who has to go through stacks and piles of  STUFF? I had never thought about how similar the start of a new year is with preparing to give birth to a baby. I felt that same surge of energy, the motivation to get things in order the past few days. I can remember the days and weeks leading up to the arrival of each of my 5 children. Despite the discomfort I was experiencing physically, I could not rest. I had this compulsion to prepare. I felt that same compulsion the past few days. The...

It's a New Year!

This is what God says, the God who builds a road right through the ocean, who carves a path through pounding waves, The God who summons horses and chariots and armies- they lie down and then can't get up; they're snuffed out like so many candles: "Forget about what's happened; don't keep going over old history. Be alert, be present.  I'm about to do something brand new. It's bursting out. Don't you see it?" Isaiah  43 Be alert, Be present! Don't miss out on what God has for you this next year! Believing with you! Susan

My late summer retreat (5)

When you spend time with God He reminds you who you are... It's so easy to get busy with life and that still small voice of our creator gets muffled underneath all the other noise. The enemy loves this... he loves us to get distracted by other voices, other desires. He knows if he can keep us distracted he will keep us from fulfilling our purpose. He has no new tricks. He even tried to tempt Jesus and keep him from his purpose. He showed him other options than what God had planned for him. We have to be focused and clear on who we are and whose we are so we are not easily deceived. Let's be wise.  Let's...
