S6 E7: 22 Things That Are True Susan Beth

Hey you!

Not sure when you will be listening to this but today is 2.22.22.  All this week the dates read the same whether you read them forward or backward. I thought that was pretty cool!!

In the last episode, we talked about looking at our story and what we believe about our story. And you know how you’re reading a great book or watching an incredible movie and you are so into the storyline just hanging on to every word and every scene and all of the sudden something so unexpected happens in the storyline that literally takes your breath and for a minute you contemplate throwing the book ( maybe you actually do throw it;) or you loudly yell NOOOOO at the screen or maybe you sit quietly in shock because nowhere did you see this coming.

It’s such a story changer that you wonder if you want to even keep reading…this has changed the whole story and you’re not sure you even like this story anymore when 2 minutes ago it had you on the edge of your seat…

Maybe you do need a break and you click pause on the movie or toss the book to the side…

You find yourself mentally back in the story sorting through all the characters and events trying to understand how you missed this coming and playing out every scenario of where this could be going…

You can’t even imagine at this moment how this story can even be salvaged but you also can’t get away from all the goodness of the story that had been giving you life…

So you choose to keep reading and trusting that the author knows where this is going with this storyline…

Sound familiar? Kind of like life isn’t it?

You’re just going along living your best life and something happens that you weren’t expecting that makes you question everything…

As much as I hate these unexpected moments I do believe that moments that make us question everything are needed.

I talk a lot about choosing not to live life on autopilot and as much as we can desire that and make choices towards that sometimes that’s not real easy when living within certain frameworks.

I’ve shared many times about situations that felt so crushing and so full of rejection that in time were clear redirection in my life. And that’s the chapter I’ve been living starting out this new year…(didn’t see that coming.)

Or did I?  I have Journal pages filled these last several months about new beginnings and as I mentioned before not living life on autopilot comfortable only in what I already know or have experienced…this deep calling and drawing to what’s next….

Maybe you are feeling similar things these days, we all have different circumstances but we all have the same author of our stories…

Maybe you find yourself in a chapter or season where you find yourself needing to surrender to the story. His story.

Not the story you expected but the story he desires to write through your life.

We all desire certainty and want to know how it all plays out and unfortunately, that doesn’t require any faith on our part.

As you know writing down my thoughts and prayers is something I’ve always done and I love going back and seeing the trail of truth.

Even when I’m sad and disappointed and it doesn’t give me goosebumps and make me feel all the things there’s the truth I know over and above any feelings or “facts”

So I wanted to share 22 truths I wrote out to read and write and set my heart and mind on and want to encourage you to do the same because even if I don’t personally know you’re story I’ve heard of enough of them to know your heart is heavy for storylines and hard chapters with your children and your jobs and your health. We’ve all been walking through lots of loss these past few years and it’s caused weariness in our parched and thirsty souls. Which means they need some watering with the truth.
