S6 E12: Creating Order Out Of Chaos

Hey You! I wanted to share a quick thought as we are at the start of a new week…
I saw a quote recently as I was scrolling through Instagram that got me laughing at the quote and myself.
The quote started by saying for the title something like “ my best traits”
Screenshots every outfit idea, recipe, funny meme, website, restaurant, etc
“Just in case I forget” then never look at them again. Haha
So funny and I could relate to that so much. I’m a screenshot, ‘hanger on-er’ to info like my life depends on it haha
And I do think I continue to do it because I do go back to many of what I’ve saved but there are SO many more that I never see again.
It made me think about this whole idea of being a consumer. And I used to only think of that word in relation to buying something at a store but not anymore.
The internet opened up a whole new world where not only can we consume but we can consume at any given moment.
Which as we are all pretty aware of by now is both a blessing and a curse.
How much information are we exposed to a day in 2020?
Although people can not really read these 105,000 words each day, this is the real number estimated to be reaching the human eyes and ears every day. After adding pictures, videos, games, etc., we reach the volume of 34 Gigabytes of information per day on average.
We weren’t created to consume. We were created to create.
I don’t know if phones do this but on the iPhone it will actually pop up on my phone telling me how much time I was on my phone in the last week and I realized a few months ago that I could see a correlation between my stress levels and my phone usage.
Now let me say I also do work from my phone and that’s not the kind of usage I’m referring to…it’s the kind of weeks where it tells me you were on your phone usage was up 20% from last week… and it wasn’t from work but from the scrolling.
To be clear this doesn’t mean we never consume! That would be impossible and it’s important that we do make time to consume things that feed us in our spirit and bodies. But you know the kind of consuming I’m talking about.
And as I just mentioned and I want to repeat it again because it is so important!
You and I were not created to consume but to create!
And so many of us miss this very integral part of who we are because we are living in the idea that to create and be creative is all about performing or fine arts when creating is simply that creating…
Bringing beauty and life in some form of expression that can look like a home-cooked meal for your family or an ordered meal that you take and present to yourself or others with such intention that it creates a beautiful sacred moment.
It can be the creative process of bringing order when your boss or co-worker hands you a stack of chaos. You are able to work through the messy process and bring order and clarity and that is beautiful work, my friend.
It can be the creative ability to step into someone’s life when it has seemingly fallen apart and fill in the needed gaps for them until they can catch their breath.
I truly believe that the God of the Universe that created us in his image put within each of us this desire to create beauty out of chaos.
So here are some things I want is to think about as we are stepping into a new week;
Where is there chaos in my life that God wants to bring order and beauty?
2. Where is there chaos in my family, my workplace, or neighborhood that you are calling me to step into to help create order and beauty?
I’m praying you have a blessed week and that your heart and eyes would be open to seeing all that God is inviting you to partner with him in creating order and beauty in your world.
Have a great week!
