S4 E4: SHE IS Spring - SURRENDER. Choosing To Surrender to the Season + Trust That God Has a Purpose
One of the things I have come across in some of my reorganizing this Spring is pictures! Lots and lots of pictures!! Every now and then I can’t resist grabbing my phone and snapping a pic and sending it out in our family group chat.
It’s so fun seeing everyone laugh and comment about how little someone was and how much one of the kids looked like another sibling at that age.
And now added to my 5 children's collection are 2 grandkids with another one on the way! It is so surreal when it pops up on my phone showing “ this day a year ago” and it’s a picture of one of the grandchildren. Change and growth are simply AMAZING!!!! I stare at it for a minute just like I do my kids' old pics and look into their eyes and say yep I see you in there. You may look so different on the outside but I recognize that special gleam in your eye that is unique to you. Sometimes I start to feel a tinge of sadness and then I remember. Growth is a good thing.
You and I were created for growth, friend. But I’ll be honest... There have been seasons I had questioned that fact when the circumstances that surrounded me didn’t appear to be the most fertile ground for growing much of anything!
I think our natural tendency when we are in a season of struggle or less than the perfect conditions we had envisioned… we can tend to feel stuck and our mindset can be I’m just going to lay low and wait for better days.
But this way of thinking can be tricky…
Because our growth has less to do with the actual circumstances of our lives and more to do with our thoughts and actions around those circumstances.
I’m not saying our circumstances aren’t real! Trust me I’m in no way saying that! But I am saying that how you CHOOSE to think and move through those circumstances makes all the difference in the world!
And can I remind you that no one can tell you how to move through and experience a season? Oh friend, everyone and their momma will try. But there is nothing like that still small voice within us. Sometimes we have to shut everything else down and off to hear it but when spirit-to-spirit communication happens...that is some sacred stuff right there.
You realize you are on an individualized growth plan designed especially for you before you even lived one day on this earth. And that no matter what or who is around you in any given moment, you are never alone. He’s got you and He is for you.
AND Instead of fighting the season and wishing things were different or mindlessly numbing out to get through each day, you are gently reminded you are held.
Sometimes, growth is choosing to surrender and simply trusting the season you are in…
