S7 E27: Rest + Recovery

See this content in the original post

Hey Hey! I hope you are doing well. I know this time of year is packed full of all the end-of-year things! I SEE YOU… graduating kids and at all the awards banquets and recitals …ITS ALOT!!  But it's a season sister and you’re doing it!

I’ve mentioned how this Spring season has been truly a season of growth for me personally and from things you’ve shared with me I can say for many of us!  And as growth does ….it goes through phases and I have experienced the exhilaration and energy of new growth as well as the uncomfortable stretching for continued growth.

So coming out of Spring as many of you… even though My kids are now past the age of these events so these days I’m just enjoying the showing up and enjoying the celebrating part. But like many of you …the need for a big exhale is arising and Summer is the PERFECT season for exactly that!

It’s no secret if you’ve been around here long that I love Matthew 11 and I love how it reads in the Message Bible.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

This scripture is one that I literally take in so slowly line by line

Statement by statement…

Just breathing in this message that Jesus shared when he was physically walking here on earth is such a life-giving invitation to real living

When we are feeling heavy we are abiding in our own strength and not his.

Get away with me and you’ll recover your life…

Jesus was all about life

It’s also no secret that one of my favorite ways to get away and connect with God is through writing and journaling. And I know many of you have been working through the She is Awakening Spring Journal and I’m excited to tell you that you can start ordering your Summer Journal this weekend!!!

If you’re new here…  welcome :) so glad you are here. But I have for years naturally shared and taught and created within the flow and rhythm of the natural seasons.  This wasn’t something I always intentionally did…and honestly at times tried to switch things up haha but finally realized it’s how I live and how life is so I’m fully embracing it. :))

So this year I have been thrilled to bring to life and share with you the She is Awakening Seasonal Journal.  If you have been moving through the Spring Journal following the exact weeks of Spring then you are in the final weeks. The official first day of Summer is June 21st. I did design the journal with undated pages because the intention is not to add another task to a to-do list and something to check off.  It’s an invitation to move through a season with intention and connect with God and be present with what he is doing in our lives and that’s going to look different for each of us.  There is a note from me on the front of each journal that reminds you that your journal is YOURS! To use in the way that best serves you. You might follow along with the weeks and journal every day or you might read the weekly focus and use the scan code and listen to the audio and rarely or never write on the journal pages… that is totally fine.  The main point is intentionally getting still and connecting with a God that longs to speak to you.

So coming out of a season of growth the Summer Journal is all about recovery and rest for our spirit soul and body.

So what does it mean to recover our life?

It looks like the words from Matthew 11 that I read at the start of this episode.

It’s the beautiful invitation from Jesus to come to him, get away with him and you’ll recover your life.

The word recover means to get back something that is lost.

One of the root meanings for this word is from a Latin term meaning “to recuperate”

We can only run so far in our own strength. When we are staying rooted and grounded in Christ there is a peace and joy that sustains and strengthens us …no matter what the season holds.

If our lives have not been recovered and made alive in Christ then we are not thriving in our lives but surviving.

Jesus didn’t come for us to just barely survive the life he came to provide for you and for me starts when we believe and follow him and it’s eternal.

He stated “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”

A full life…above and beyond what we even dare ask or dream! —

That is the life he recovers for us and invites us to!

I love you guys and I’ll be emailing the order info for Summer the journal this Sunday and will add the links in the show notes.

I’m truly excited about this new season we are walking into and hope I will be walking alongside you …cheering you on!

Talk soon!
