SHE IS a church girl
SHE IS a church girl.
I had screenshot this 1st pic that my sister Denise had posted a while back that was taken of the 5 of us kids one Sunday. (And yes, my mother made us matching outfits☺️)
I had just celebrated my 8th Birthday in Florida and a few days later we moved to Tennessee to the church my Dad pastored until I graduated from High School.
The next 3 pics were taken last year on one of my trips to Tennessee. I find it hard not to jump off my old exit just to ride by my old house and church.
I grew up in that church.
I worshipped God in that church.
I got in trouble for talking during service in that church.
I sang my first solo in that church.
I was the Joy Bells president in that church.😂 Don’t make me sing the song!
I played the flute in our church band, I cried in the altar and got saved “several times” 😉 in that church.
Years later I got married in that church.
Fast forward several years and it’s funny how this Florida born, Tennessee raised girl ended up back up in Florida.
Years into the journey of planting a church I finally realized that God isn’t the church. You might be thinking well that’s kind of obvious😂...It’s easy to say you know that, yet so many, like I did, feel like they need an actual service/building to experience God and feel like they are “living their best Christian life.” So please hear this church loving Preachers Kid, Pastor’s wife, Pastor and Christian...
God our Father is not the church.
The “church” will fail you, disappoint you...
WHY?!? Because it’s led by humans!
It’s easy to walk away from God when you’re hurt and disappointed with church WHEN you think the church is God!
And spoiler alert...
When you know God is God all by Himself and loves His Church, HIS PEOPLE, not a building, then you LOVE the church!
