What's flowing out of you?
I enjoy the beach, but I love the river.
I am also intrigued by the fact that we have a river that literally flows through our city!
There is a scripture in the book of John where Jesus says
"If anyone thirst, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me, as the scriptures has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."
I have a question for you this Monday morning...
Are you thirsty?
We've all experienced times of real thirst and had something to drink only to still be thirsty.
I love Jesus' response in His conversation with the woman at the well.
"Drink of Me and you will never be thirsty again."
I see so many thirsty people around me...
trying desperately to quench their thirst with other things, but remaining thirsty.
Jesus says to us,
ANYONE who is thirsty... come to ME and DRINK!
Jesus then goes on to tell us that when we do this and believe in Him then rivers of living water will flow out of our heart.
I have to admit there are times when what comes naturally flowing out of my heart is ugly.
It's in those times I have to recognize I am in desperate need of a drink!
Not a natural one...but one that will quench my thirst.
One of my favorite things is going to a Starbucks or a bookstore or the Morris cafe' and having coffee with a friend.
The drink and the conversation is so refreshing to me.
Yet we often miss out on an open invitation for a drink from the creator of the universe...
talk about refreshing!
So what's flowing out of your heart and touching your world today?
Is it a river flowing with the grace and love of God because you have had a drink of Him
or is it a river of fear and worry and strife?
Let's take Him up on that drink today so that what is flowing out of us is life to those around us.
