S5 E5: Election 2020: A reminder + challenge ♥️🙌🏻.
Hey everyone! I don’t know when you might be listening to this, but the day I am recording this is Tuesday, November 3rd which here is the US is election day.
I’ve thought several times these past few weeks and months about sharing some thoughts I’ve been having around this time in our nation and then I’ve talked myself out of it. But today I’m taking my own advice. I wrote on one of my journal pages that I printed out and have sitting on my desk to remind me on those days I need reminding haha which says…
“Sometimes I don’t use my voice for fear of being misunderstood…
Sometimes it’s worth the chance.
So I thought I would take that chance this morning as I have a drive our to Jax Beach for a chiropractic appointment share what’s on my heart...
What I have is a reminder and a challenge
REMINDER: The outcome of this election does not change who YOU are! As believers, our hope is not in a particular politician or a political party. I understand that there are different consequences and outcomes depending on who is elected to office. But it’s no different than every other area of our life when things happen that seem out of our control.. We have to deal with that all the time dealing with the consequences of others or circumstances we didn’t choose or ask for. And here’s what I want to remind you... our responsibility in all of these circumstances is to stand in our truth and do what we know to do and trust and know that God has us! And we can trust him as we look to him to take all of the things and work them for our good!
And I Know A lot of this has to do with where we are finding our identity and our understanding of this affects how we show up in the world which as you know is something I’m so passionate about and I’m loving the feedback that is coming in from those of you that are diving into to the first session SHE IS in Christ.
(and I’ll have the link of where you can get this first session in the show notes if you’re interested in learning more)
If you are all over the place and being driven by news reports and the opinions of celebrities and whoever else you’re listening to then I’m guessing you’re feeling pretty anxious right now…
And sadly, to be honest...I think that is exactly what the goal is. To keep you so desperate to hear the next report and looking to them for answers and hope.
But guess what they don’t have it.
You do! Ultimate hope is only found when we stay rooted in Christ.
He is our life source and our light source.
Let’s be that light source in this moment.
No fear no matter what the outcome..
So here’s the challenge for you and for me…
All the things you believe in and are passionate about seeing change in
Start using your voice... your life everyday to create change.
Change doesn’t happen on one big voting day
It happens when you and I live out of truth and stand boldly for that truth every single day. In our homes, in our neighborhoods, in our workplaces, in our churches and communities.
Changed people Bring change!
Here’s part 2 of the challenge part... Hear God for yourself!
Don’t get sucked into picking sides and thinking things having to be done a certain way. As much as some would love you to believe, this IS not An” us again them” moment. We are all in this together. Don’t allow anyone to slap a label on you and tell you what you think and believe!
God can and is speaking to you and he isn’t calling you to be jerk and spew political opinions everywhere.
What I do know he is calling you to is to show up in your world and love your brothers and sisters. And you don’t need a politician or a preacher to tell you how to do that!
You know that unconditional love that he continues to give to you?!?
That’s it!!! Give it away….everyday!
Father- Thank you for your love for us.
We choose to right now in this moment breath it in and be refreshed by it.
Thank you that your perfect love drives away fear from our minds and our lives. When we feel in creeping in help us to quickly take it captive and rest and stand in your love.
Father we choose to trust in your goodness and our understanding that your ways are not our ways.
We choose to trust your ways over any opinion of man and are looking to you to lead us and guide us always…
amen
