S5 E6: Stop Holding On To Things That Need To FALL Away In Your Life!🍁
Hey hey everyone!
I want to share a quick thought with you this Sunday evening.
A few weeks ago As I was praying + playing in my journal I found myself doodling leaves and writing these words...
“What needs to fall away in my life?
What dead thing that is barely holding on needs to be released and fall away?
Change is good...
And a natural part of growth.
Don’t resist the things falling away.
Appreciate them for what they brought to you in their season and celebrate the change that their falling away is bringing to you.
I’ve mentioned before that I like change. But even as someone that can like change, I can sometimes find myself struggling with something changing that has become so familiar in my life.
Change is change!
It causes different thoughts and reactions in each of us and it demands something different from us because we are dealing with something new or different. Something has changed!
And I feel like I need to say when I’m talking about change and things falling away, I’m not referring to a deep loss you or I have experienced. Even though I know God is a master at bringing new life and growth to us after we experience a great loss or death. What I’m talking about today is natural seasons of growth and life and that is something totally different.
So here are some questions I’m inviting us all to think about in this season…
Are there things in your life and in my life that need to fall away?
Maybe it’s a career path or friendship that has run its course.
Or maybe it’s a mindset or habit that has you keeping it around.
Which leads me to the next question…
What dead thing is barely hanging on that you just need to release and let it fall away?
And the thing is… let it be easy!!! The falling away doesn’t need some big fanfare or going away party!! Make the decision and move on…
I know we all have different personalities, but for me sometimes the harder I try the bigger the resistance shows up for me...so just make the decision, release your grip and let it fall…
The things that we need to allow to fall away aren’t necessarily bad things or negative things, but they are things that are no longer for us in this next season. So even if they are good they can stunt new growth from happening in our lives
And growth is what we are wired for friend.
Father thank you for your faithfulness in our lives.
May we choose to see that change is part of growth.
And that you are right here with us in the midst of any discomfort we might be experiencing with any growing pains.
We choose to be strong and courageous in allowing anything that you no longer desire for us to fall away, confident that your plans for us are good
We trust you in every season
And we are looking to you
always!
