S8 E28: Preparing for the Next Season

Well, here we are …walking out our last week in Autumn and into Winter.

As I’ve mentioned recently, I’m feeling this transition.

Maybe it’s because it’s the time of year when we’re given lots of opportunities to feel… or maybe it’s just that in-between space that we feel during transitions…

Whatever the reason I’m ready for the new season!

S8 E26: Love

Have you ever struggled with loving someone? Maybe it’s someone you work with or maybe it’s someone you live with.

I pretty sure we can all answer yes to having had this struggle and maybe you’re in the middle of the struggle now.

Another thing I’m pretty sure about is…it feels yucky!!

S8 E25: Holiday Chat

You guys!! Some of you had your pieces picked out immediately and they are on the way I cannot wait to see them displayed in your home or offices or wherever you choose. You know I have a thing for abstract black and white so I love them all!! Can I say that?!? Well, I said it and it’s true that I love them all.

S8 E24: Joy

Happy New Week friends. I hope you are doing well. You might notice my voice sounds a little different as I have been fighting something the past several days and at times barely have a voice to speak. So hopefully it will hold up for me to get this recorded.

S8 E23: Even When...

As I picked up my pen I started writing the word peace and then the words even when

Peace, even when things don’t go as planned,

Peace, even when I am disappointed

Peace, even when I make mistakes

Peace, even when I don’t understand

S8 E22: Peace That Exceeds My Understanding

But there comes a point when we don’t have the ability to hold it together. It’s easy in these moments to look to something to numb the pain we are experiencing in the hopes of experiencing some kind of relief and peace.

S8 E21: The Family Table

I see you if when you hear the word home and the family table it doesn’t bring back any warm fuzzy feelings for you…

Home wasn’t a place you felt safe or seen…

And for that I am sorry.

I’m sorry because I know that has shaped your life and your thoughts around family and belonging. And I hope you have or are moving towards healing in your life.

S8 E20: Prayerfulness

How can living a life of prayer enable us to live a life of thankfulness?

 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says

Let joy be your continual feast. Make your life a prayer. And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.

We can read this scripture and acknowledge that is a beautiful thought especially when life is feeling pretty chill. We can read this and feel all warm inside and give a big amen.

But what about the days when life doesn’t feel so chill? And warm and cozy is far from any feeling we are experiencing.

 Let’s take a closer look…

S8 E18: The Password Is... Thank You

You don’t have to look very far for the evidence that we are in the season of Thankfulness. Actually, I just had the thought as I said that,  that you might actually have to do some digging as we are at the start of November, and Thanksgiving and Fall stuff has already been replaced with Christmas decor at many stores.

S8 E16: Letting Things Fall Away

Just like clutter around our house and in our vehicles drains us even when we are unaware that is because our senses are taking it in every time we see all the “stuff” taking up space. So just as we can clear up some of that in our physical spaces and feel lighter it’s the same way in all the other areas of our life.

Everything we take in and allow to take up space in our lives is affecting how we live. We are being weighed down by things that we are not called to carry.

S8 E15: Letting Go Of Control + Living A Life Of Worship

I can remember sitting at a coffee shop with someone and her talking to me about me singing and leading worship which I had done most of my life. And I said out loud something I had felt in my heart for a long time… I had a fear of really letting go of control and leading in worship in a greater way because I was afraid of where it might take me.

S8 E14: Layers + Leaves

So as I looked back at my life I could see creativity sprinkled all through it. Did it look exactly like what I was putting my hand to in this season? No, but I could see that creativity looked different in almost every season and layer of my life. I could see that when my children were younger and my days were filled with feeding children and homeschooling my creativity was in full force around my everyday life.  As a family, we lived out the seasons of life creatively. Sometimes it felt like creativity in the midst of complete chaos, but I think we are all hard-wired divinely from our creator with the desire and gifts that wherever we find ourselves we are designed and gifted to bring order and beauty in the midst of chaos.

S8 E13: Change That Leads To Transformation

I wanted to say a quick thank you before we jump into the episode. Thank you for sharing the seasonal journal with your people!

Obviously in creating and putting the seasonal journal out into the world this past year, I was thinking of many of you.  You who listen to the podcast and occasionally reach out and share with me through email or a DM on Instagram.  Some of you have heard me share from my heart about seasons in and out of many seasons of my life and I’m so grateful for that.

S8 E12: Colors of Change

I love a range of colors colors but if I were forced to choose a favorite to the horror of some I would choose the color of black.  I’ve actually had people tell me that black isn’t even truly a color…

I love deep black furniture, black blouses, and pants and there’s absolutely nothing like a pair of black boots. Ha!

And I’ve always loved black.  I know it’s more common now but back in the 80’s when I chose black velvet for my Bridesmaids I really confused a lot of people haha

For many, it is a basic solid base color …bland and not exciting and I feel the exact opposite of that…

It’s rich and deep and interesting..

I love it.

S8 E10: Transitions + Trust

So I decided to open the back door to allow the natural light in and I plopped down on the couch with my bible and journal and decided to open up to the weekly focus in the Autumn journal.  The words on the page felt very timely as I was reading about the season inviting us ‘home” and reminding us that change is exciting and beautiful and needed for future growth.

All of a sudden I realized there was a direct beam of sunlight shining on the pages I was reading and writing on.  Y'all immediately my eyes well up with tears and I felt like God was giving me the biggest hug and reminding me that wherever I am…he is there.

S8 E9: Welcome Autumn

So fast forward to this year, actually I was tempted to cut it last year too. But this year it has really been something I wanted to do and I started people that after the Summer I was going to cut it. And I realized I had been putting it off for so long because I was scared. This was surprising to me because I’ve always been the person to cut my hair at the drop of a hat. I would have people say something like it and was always like it can grow back. I’ve had long and short hair and everything in between my whole life and love it all. Thankfully I married someone that does too!
